Probably you are much like us : )
We worked in national and international companies where we daily experienced the challenges of distance in place, time, culture and language. Traveling between offices and customers was required and had lots of benefits but not without sacrifices.
We and our colleagues got sick, wasted time on airports and urban transport, were tired and missed our families. Traveling also means risk. Literally within hours a place would turn out to be unsafe. Passing a road accident was a painful reminder of "being on the road".
On the financial side we had to negotiate travel packages for employees who had medium or much travel. Flexible tickets and hotels were expensive. Total cost of traveling seemed much higher than the outlays alone.
Finally there was this footprint on nature which we were knowingly silent about.
Despite that most people believed that you cannot do business without travel, we decided for travel-ban, we imposed a zero-travel policy in our organization.
This meant that we had to think not only to meet each other through technology
but to be together through technology. This need developed into the concept of VIRTUALWINDOW. The idea was simple. Why not pretend that we had a glass window between our offices? The need to visit the other room is less if there is a window between them.
So now we develop always-on video solutions for human collaboration.
We call it virtual co-location.
Our vision is intelligent offices and homes that connects people from where they live or like to live and through virtual co-location contribute a little bit to the preservation of nature and distribution of skills and wealth in our world.
